ADDRESSING OUR ISSUES
Public Safety

I believe the most important function of the city council is public safety. In that regard I am a huge supporter of our police and fire departments. Our police and fire departments serve our citizens with the utmost dedication and professionalism and are second to none. I am committed to providing them with the proper manpower, equipment, services and all things necessary for them to perform their duties to the highest level of perfection.

Taxes

I am also committed to maintaining our low taxes. This current council and councils in the past have been able to cut property taxes for 20 straight years. Our current tax rate of 24.745 cents per hundred dollars of assessed value did not just happen - it has taken good, sound fiscal management by our City Manager, Staff and the City Council. While we have some head winds against us in maintaining that rate I am committed to low property taxes.

Traffic

We all have concerns about traffic and that is one of the reasons that I serve as one of the City of Rockwall’s representatives to the Rockwall County Planning Consortium. The Planning Consortium prioritizes road projects for not only the City of Rockwall but the entire county as well. We then try to secure funding for those projects from multiple sources. We are currently in the process of identifying additional roadways for the City of Rockwall to add to this list. The Rockwall County Planning Consortium Report which contains current information for all the projects can be found on Rockwall County’s website.

Keeping The Small Hometown Feel

I am very proud that we have been able to maintain Rockwall’s small hometown feel and I am committed to preserving it in the future. A huge part of this is continuing to keep Rockwall a safe community. I am committed to preserving our downtown area and  supporting our city parks and our Parks & Recreation Department in all the ways they enhance our city. This includes maintaining our 4th. of July and Christmas parades, our Christmas tree lighting, downtown Christmas, Concert by the Lake series, San Jacinto Plaza music series and all the things that contribute to Rockwall being a special place. I am also proud of all the shopping and restaurants that are offered in our great city.
